You must show that you have enough money to support yourself and your dependants after you arrive in Canada . You will need to provide proof of your funds when you submit your application for immigration.

Business Class Immigration: Applying under this category requires you to make an investment of CAN$400,000 or must own and manage businesses in Canada . There are various sub-categories under this category, under which you can apply for immigration:

Investors: To apply under this category you must demonstrate business experience and a legally obtained net worth of CAN$800,000, and must make an investment of CAN$400,000.
Entrepreneurs: To apply under this category you are required to have experience in running business and a minimum legally obtained net worth of CAN $300,000 provided you to commit to managing and owning at least one third of a business of a defined size for at least one year within three years of landing in Canada .
Self employed persons: Those seeking visa under this category are required to have either:

• Relevant experience that will enable them to make a significant contribution to the cultural or athletic life of Canada , or

• Experience in farm management and the intention and ability to purchase and manage a farm in Canada .

• Provincial Nominations: Most provinces in Canada are in agreement with the government of Canada which gives them the authority to play a more prominent role in selecting immigrants who wish to settle in that province. If you wish to immigrate under this category, you must first apply to the province where you wish to settle. The province will consider your application based on their immigration needs.

• Family Class Immigration: Under this category, Canadian citizens or a permanent resident, 18 years of age or more, may sponsor close relatives or family members who want to become permanent residents of Canada . Sponsors must promise to support the relative or family members and their accompanying family members for a period of three to ten years to help them settle in Canada .

• your brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces or grandchildren who are orphans; under the age of 18 and not married or in a common-law relationship; or

• a relative of any age if you do not have an aunt, uncle or family member from the list above who you could sponsor or who is already a Canadian citizen, Indian or permanent resident.

• International adoption: According to Canadian laws you are permitted to adopt a child from another country if you are a Canadian citizen or resident. To bring your adoptive child to Canada you need to sponsor the child for immigration.

There are two processes that you need to go through if you wish to adopt a child from another country:

• Adoption process: Adoptions are the responsibility of the provinces in Canada . You need to have a Home Study done, usually by your province, before Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) processes your application for sponsorship.

You will have to comply with the adoption laws of the child's country of origin. You must also comply with the laws of your province.

• The Immigration Process: In order to adopt a child from another country, you must apply to sponsor the child for permanent residence in Canada . You may apply for citizenship on child's behalf after the child is in Canada and has a permanent residence status.

CIC will request a letter of consent from your province showing that your province agrees to the adoption. The immigration visa will only be issued after the immigration mission in the child's country of origin receives this letter from your province.

• Immigrating to Quebec as a skilled worker: Under the Canada-Quebec Accord on Immigration, Quebec is able to establish its own immigration requirements and select immigrants who will adapt well to living in Quebec .

To come to Canada as a Quebec skilled worker, you must first apply to the Quebec government for a Certificat de sélection du Québec .

After you have been selected by Quebec , you have to make a separate application to Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) for permanent residence. A CIC officer will assess your application based on Canadian immigration regulations.
